Drugs are helpful!

Earth has a very strange medical system indeed! Even after many centuries of development, in many areas of medicine, they are still hopelessly in the Dark Ages. The big exceptions are their surgeons who are starting to do some fairly impressive work in body repair, and their nutritionists who, despite a lot of false information, still manage to do some very good work.

The average "doctor" however is quite another matter due primarily to the fact that, despite the evidence all around him, he hasn't yet figured out the simple cause and cure for psychosomatic illness! He even believes that the mind and the brain are the same. As a result, what does he do when Earth people come to him with illnesses? He tries to change the chemistry of the brain and he gives them drugs!! Can you believe it?

Many of them know full well that drugs are basically poisons and that they seldom cure anything and in fact while they may succeed in temporarily suppressing some symptoms, they invariably give the patient new symptoms that he didn't have before and for which he now gets prescribed more drugs!

These new drugs of course have their own new side effects for which more drugs are needed and thus a vicious cycle of drug-dependency is started and perpetuated by these doctors themselves. They should be ashamed! Yet many of them don't even seem to realize the long-term damage that they are doing by trying to address symptoms rather than true causes. Even their TV commercials which now broadly advertise so-called "beneficial" drugs, also give long lists of "side-effects" and many Earth people apparently don't notice this contradiction.

In one generation this population has almost completely forgotten that it used to treat itself with natural remedies and they've bought into the fallacy of drugs. And incredibly - much of this is about money - nothing to do with help or health! Fairly lousy behaviour from all those folks who swear they are acting in humanity's best interests! Of course there are some well-intentioned doctors who are more mis-informed than ill-intentioned.

At the latter part of the 20th century the legal drug market makes more money than is spent on education, the environment, and disease research combined - in the equivalent amount of time. And more money is spent on illegal (street drugs) planet-wide than is spent on food, clothing, education, medical care or housing! Countries attack each other by introducing drugs into each other's cultures....it's part of what is called "foreign intelligence." No wonder this "civilization" acts so crazy!

And it isn't just illegal or prescription drugs that addles the populace. Chemical pesticides and additives are in their food - so harmful that their food is almost poison - it certainly lacks any real nutrition any more.

As the millennium approaches, humans are beginning to wake up to the fact that they are being had and drugs are suspect. "Natural" is becoming the common sense byword once again. We'll continue to monitor the situation. Perhaps these humans will survive after all!
