Escape from 20th century Earth and become one of the first people from Earth to have your own 3D Virtual Reality apartment -- completely free! The Cybertown off-world Colony is now offering 4 prebuilt apartment types modeled in 3D VRML and freely available to you and soon we'll also be offering you the capability of building and customizing your own 3D VR apartments and having your friends over to visit in multiuser VR. * THEY'RE HERE NOW - OR SEE UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!

All we ask if you use the singleuser apartments is that you add a line to your home page that says, "3D VR apartment courtesy of Cybertown" - with the word "Cybertown" being a link to http://www.cybertown.com/

There are several prebuilt singleuser apartments available - one that has textures, created in Home Space Builder and three that don't, created in Virtus Walkthrough Pro.

To explore our singleuser VR apartments all you need is the Live3D plug-in (already included in Netscape 3.0). Since these singleuser apartments are constructed in VRML 1.0, they look and run best with the Live3D plug-in or Netscape 3.0 (which comes with this plug-in and which is still available). Netscape 4 comes with the Cosmo plug-in built in and it is not very backwards-compatible and the results with this are very unpredictable - the singleuser apartments don't look as good. We are currently working on a massive project to upgrade all of our VR to VRML 2.0 and introduce a whole new VR Cybertown in a few months time.

Here's how to get your textured singleuser apartment for Live3D:

1) If you don't already have the Live3D plug-in for Netscape 3.0+ download Netscape 3.0+ from here. Make sure you download the complete version with the added components.

2) Install it per the instructions.

3) Select the apartment below:

4) The apartment will download, Live3D will open and then you can explore your new home and show it to your friends. The faster your computer, the better the experience. You can then add a link from your home page to your new apartment so that your visitors can check it out. The way to do this is to add a link from your page to: http://www.cybertown.com/aptweb.wrl.gz

The Penthouse Apartment Suite was created by John Peter Dugan. We're also making many areas of the town 3D VR and will be releasing these shortly.
