WHAT IS A CYBERTOWN COMMUNITY LEADER?
A Cybertown Community Leader is a Cybertown resident who has volunteered to help other Cybertown residents and visitors or to help in the expansion of Cybertown itself. You can contact them directly via their e-mail addresses below. There are five primary areas that Cybertown Community Leaders will assist in: 1) HELPING NEW VISITORS AND RESIDENTS
This includes such things as answering your questions, helping you find things in town, helping you get your apartments, giving tours, helping you with your web pages, manning the Help and Tech Support Bulletin Boards and chat sessions and helping with any problems you run into.
2) ACTING AS AN INFORMATION LIAISON BETWEEN THE CYBERTOWN "FOUNDING FATHERS" AND THE COMMUNITY
This includes providing information and announcements to the community about events, guidelines and news, running the town newspaper, letting the community know about Cybertown's appearances in the media (we're getting lots of magazine and TV coverage worldwide) as well as enabling the "Founding Fathers" to get needed information from the community
3) HELPING RESIDENTS GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND BRINGING TOGETHER RESIDENTS WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS
This includes organizing and running Special Interest Bulletin Boards and Chat Discussion Groups, creating community events and get-togethers, games, competitions, awards for best art and best home pages and creating the resident's newsletter. We're also planning on setting up Special Interest "Clubs" in town covering all the major interests that community members have and Community Leaders will run these.
4) HELPING EXPAND AND UPDATE CYBERTOWN
This includes such things as finding new attractions, sites, areas and features to add to Cybertown, helping promote Cybertown, checking that things in town are working, building perl or java scripts, creating graphics and/or vrml etc.
5) KEEPING THE TOWN RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND MAINTAINING ORDER IN TOWN
This includes handling those who like to make things unpleasant for others.
The Community Leaders have created the new Cybertown Help System to enable you to rapidly find key help information in Cybertown.![]()

is a Consultant living above a pub in Hillgate Village, Notting Hill Gate, London, England. He arrived at this point in his life by way of a law degree; accountancy; playing in bands; managing bands; and running various record labels and other companies. Finally his interest in computers and communications, and their effect on our future, overtook his interest in music and he decided to concentrate on this aspect of his life.
CHRIS FARMER
His interests are the latest technology; music; reading; writing; films; and, obviously, computers. He first learnt to program back in the days of Apple IIs and CPM machines and he bought his first serious machine — an Apple Mac 512K — back in 1984; making the switch to Windows in 1993. He now uses NT 4.0; Win '95; OS/2 Warp; and Linux; but still keeps his fingers crossed for Apple's future.
Chris will be helping in the following areas:-
Helping Other Cybertown Residents [Web Site problems, etc.]
Information Liaison [Developments in Cybertown]
Special Interest Groups [VRML; TCL/TK / SunScript; Java; JavaScript; Music — Depending on who else is interested in these areas]
Expanding the Town [The move to 3D]
I feel very privileged to have been appointed as a Community Leader and I look forward to hearing from other residents and providing any help and advice that I can.

ERECH WARCHOL - I am a 25 year old male and have gotten addicted to computers in the 7th grade when I applied for an optional computer course to get out of some of my classes. I originally had an old Commodore 64 (okay, stop laughing now) and could take it apart and fix it myself. I am also a licenced electronic technician. I have now graduated to a nice shiny new Pentium 200MMX... I know windows95 really well and am now learning HTML with quite a bit of success. I have one page that I have done myself and one I have co-written with a friend. I would like to help keep the undesireables out of the chat rooms. By undesireables I mean those that come in and insist on ridiculing people on their beliefs and use foul language and basically make it unpleasant for all others chatting in the public rooms. I am in the chat often throughout the day and enjoy meeting nice people and find it quite annoying when others enter and try to put others down. I would also like to help in any other ways I could. coupedeville@geocities.com
Kevin Peck I interested in helping everyone. I am still a bit of a greenhorn when it comes to computers but I is a quick learner. I feel that by helping others, I am helping myself, so don't be afraid to ask me questions. If I don't know the answer, I will be more than happy to look for it. If there is one thing I am good at, it's chatting...so I will be helping monitor the chat rooms and bulletin boards. Watch for me there, and if you see me don't be afraid to say Hi! My favorite Motto comes from the late Will Rodgers... "I never met a man I didn't like". You can visit him at Viking's Home and E-Mail him at kpeck@sprintmail.com
Henning Strandin I am a network administrator at an insurance company. I work mostly with networking issues (Banyan Vines and TCP/IP) but I'm also responsible for data comm projects and our intranet. I'm no hacker (in the sense "good programmer") but I've dabbled in several programming languages, including Perl (the only one I use at work), Assembler and Prolog. And I run Linux on two machines at home, Linux/Intel and Linux/Alpha. And I have a huge Tandem Integrity S2 file server in my one room apartment. So I guess you could say I'm a hardware phreak 8) Besides computers I'm very interested in History (especially history of religion, though I'm not religious), philosophy and mythology. Oh yes, and I'm a soul music fanatic, and DJ regularly at a semi-hip bar here in my home city 8) I'll help out with expanding Cybertown, code HTML and try my hand at some CGI-scripting. I can also answer Q:s relating to PC hardware. If someone needs help on any of my more humanistically oriented interests (history, philosophy, mythology or soul music) I'd be happy to give it a shot 8) Finally, I have been known as "Theocide" or "Sum-Dum-Goy" on IRC (DAL-net), Firefly and Geocities for several years. theocide@worshipper.com
Pamela White My name is Pamela White. I am a 35 year old mother of four. I love computers and surfing the web. In fact I think of myself as a computerholic. When I'm not at my computer having fun web surfing. I'm working at my computer. I run a small but growing desktop publishing service from my home. I enjoy reading, writing short stories for my kids and spending time with my family. I feel I would make a good community leader because I truly enjoy helping others and I don't mind doing what it takes to resolve a problem. The areas I'm most interested in working are special events and the newsletter. But I'm happy to help where needed.

ALAN FELMY is a non-technical web surfer who is online at the most 10 hrs/week. All on the weekend. His leadership qualities are poor but he is an excellent follower. Give him a task and he will complete it on time as specified. Alan would like to help expand the town, checking links, finding new resources and such. He knows a medium amount of HTML and can help with pages and related problems. Sadly, he has neglected Cybertown and has some catching up to do to find out what is really going on. But if you have some tedious drudge work to do, just call on Al and he'll grind away at it till it's done aflemy@tima.com
BILL ROBITSKE, Jr. is a student at Metamora Township High School, working toward a carreer in computer programming, whose interests are anything having to do with computers, drawing, music, and the future. GREG SEERY (AKA Jongleur) is a programmer with over 20 years of experience in business software, platforms ranging from IBM mainframes to 8 bit micros. His favorite movie is still '2001 - A Space Odyssey'. Greg will be available to help new members navigate Cybertown and the Web, as an information liason, and expanding the frontiers.
