Lost Civilizations - 3D World Building Contest
In the last surveys done by the Citizen's Input Team regarding which new 3D worlds the residents most wanted next in Cybertown, the clear winner was worlds that come under the headings of Ancient Ruins and Lost Civilizations.
In conjunction with sponsors Virtock Technologies Inc., the makers of Vizx3D, the first X3D authoring tool, Cybertown is happy to announce a new contest to run throughout March to build the next new world for Cybertown. Cybertown citizens can download a free 30 Day fully functional copy of the new Vizx3D software, in order to compete against each other to create the most compelling and amazing "lost worlds".
Cybertown citizens will be able to use many of the new features of Vizx3D, such as multi-texturing rendering, H-Anim support, single mesh avatars and a new simplified interface to create anything from lost "Atlantean worlds" to "mysterious lost dynasties" of the past. Vizx3D allows contestants to create any "world" they can imagine and all produced using cutting edge 3D real time rendering technologies and techniques which can then be exported to VRML.
Contest winners will have their worlds made into part of the growing Cybertown Universe online. First, Second and Third prize winners will also receive a full license of Vizx3D v.1.0, valued at approximately $300.00 each. The winning worlds will also be featured at the Vizx3D.com website in the monthly Featured Story column, which is read by thousands of web3D enthusiasts each month. There will also be large citycash prizes.
RULES
1) The contest is only open to current Cybertown members.
2) You must also be a citizen of the U.S.A. or Canada (excluding Quebec) to be eligible to receive the real life prizes. If you are the citizen of a country other than Canada or the U.S.A., then you will still be awarded citycash and other prizes will be determined for you.
3)If you are a US citizen under 13 years of age, you must have a signed parental consent form on file in the Cybertown office in order to participate in this contest. Parental Consent forms can be found at the following URL: http://www.cybertown.com/notices/parents/consent_form.html
4)There is no purchase necessary to enter or win.
5) All VRML work will be judged based on qualities such as, but not limited to originality, creativity, technological merit, skill within the medium, and uniqueness. Since this is a contest of skill, the winner will be determined based on the quality of the entry received. Worlds need to be well constructed, thought out, and visually compelling. The decisions of the judges are final.
6) Worlds should be no larger than 350-400kb including textures and any other features. Information on optimizing 3D worlds is at http://philliphansel.com/buildersguild/optimize.htm
