Home Improvement
Hometime

An excellent site. Good advice and real help on landscaping, building a deck, basement projects, painting and decorating, home maintenance and even home technology. How to do so many things that you will have a hard time deciding on what to start on first! This site is brought to you by the creators of the Hometime show.

Brother Bob's Fix-it Shop

A clean and neat design puts solutions at your fingertips. Not only is the home fully covered, but your car, computer and appliances as well. You can use the search engine and even ask questions here. A nice friendly site for needed repairs.

Better Homes and Gardens Online: Home Improvement Encyclopedia

Better Homes and Gardens has a great site here with tips and advice on your household repairs. I found good information all over the area and they give their own special tricks to help you along. Just pick the area and look around. You will get useful information here.

Home Ideas: Home Improvement Ideas for Kitchen, Bath, Yard and Garden, etc.

The most attractive site I have seen for home repair and improvement. It is a search engine for articles and information on the topic you select. I learned more than I ever wanted to know about caulk, but I think I may just put it to use with my leaky tub.

This Old House

Yes, this is brought to you by the fine people who do the show. Past and present projects and so many things are covered here. Landscaping and other topics are covered as well as basic home maintenance and building. How to do a shell covered driveway or selecting the right nails and screws for the job. Very nice site!

Bondex

This is a site devoted to Bondex, but gives some good ideas and advice on concrete repair, decorating with textures, general repair, patch repair, wallcovering, waterproofing and wood repair. I am going to texturize my walls!

Kitchen-net Homepage

Kids can win a refrigerator for the big folks in their lives. Tips, links, and advice from designers, too. A well planned and easy loading site. There are product listings and you can see what they will look like, then you can link to the product site. It does have some do-it-yourself advice as well. It is not a shopping mall online, but an aid and guide to help you make those choices. No salesmen leaning over your shoulder either. You just will have to try this one to see all the features.

HouseNet

Home improvement, decorating, lawn and garden, and a shopping center are the key elements. Do-it-yourself remodeling and new styles sections are filled with advice, tips and even chats. A good site for the do-it-yourselfer.

Family Creations Tips section

A feminine touch, but a little heavy on downloading. Tips on kitchens, laundry and bath, staining and even sewing. I can put this link in several categories. The laundry tips were great: how to get out certain stains and how to make socks their whitest. And there's how to loosen carpet glue, clean a wood floor and more. A worthwhile source.

Home Maintenance and Repair

Not pretty, but pretty packed. Click on a letter for the many many choices available. "E" contains everything from eggs and electrical fixtures and repairs to environmental data and exposure concerns. A highly useful site.

Woodworking (and hiding) in the Garage

Handy Hints

Basement, Blocks, Ceiling, Concrete, Counters, Decks, Doors, Doorbells, Driveways, Drywall, Electrical Fences, Flooring, Garage Doors, Paint, Panelling, Plumbing, Roofing, Screens, Security, Septic, Soldering, Storage, Stripping, Wallpaper, Water, Heaters, Window Panes. A pretty comprehensive site.

DoItYourself.com Welcome Page

Great site with loads of categories!! Appliances, car, home, gardening and so much more. A must visit if you need any help for around the house ... including the garage and what's in it!

Home Front Index

A small site with few categories, but if you can't find information about a remedy for a house with 'gas' or critters that can squirrel their way into your home anywhere else, then come here.

Ask The Builder - Tim Carter

Tim's Library supports both browsing and full-text searching of the complete Ask The Builder newspaper column archives. A Builder Bulletin is attached to the end of virtually every column. You can even e-mail him your questions. His drop-down topic boxes work very well and this is a nice looking and easily navigable site.
