Needle Crafts
The Crochet Network

This site has an online form to submit your questions regarding patterns or stitches. It also has a list of crochet abbreviations, a list of magazines about crocheting (with prices), a message board and a mailing list section for further information.

Crochet Partners

Loads of patterns are found here. I may even take up the art after viewing an angel pin :) You can submit your work at their "Show Off" section. A wonderful feature is a list of charitable sites where articles can be donated.

Craft Yarn Council of America

How to teach crafts is the focus of this site. There's a pattern of the month for crochet and knitting, and news, tips and projects round it out. It also has insights into such charitable projects as "Warm Up America."

Lion Brand Yarn Co.

A commercial site that has links to free patterns. Click on the yarn picture and get the pattern geared for that yarn.

Suzu's Vintage Glamour

Vintage patterns for children and adults dating from the 1920s through the 1950's. There are directions and patterns for a variety of items. An interesting site even if you don't knit. Blast from the past through pictures.

Learn how to knit

A basic tutorial with pictures and instructions for the beginner. The author is a man who learned to knit so he would have something to do on the subway. It seems that long knitting needles provide a less crowded condition :)

Knitting On The Net

This knitting site is filled with patterns, basic instruction, publications and design tips. If that's not enough, it also has software for doing many knitting jobs. Most are for machine knitting, but it seems all can be modified for the hand knitter.

Christine-Ann for Cross-stitchers and Designers

A UK based site for cross stitchers with original cross stitch designs, charts for sale and useful pages for stitchers everywhere. A nice looking site. Very homey. It has checklists, r.c.t.n. abbreviations and more.

Counted Cross Stitch

This is a wonderful site done by C.M. Barr who has been a cross stitch, needlework, and craft pattern designer for over 15 years. With an offering of free designs, charts, as well as product reviews, this page is worth checking out.

Counted Cross Stitch, Needlework and Stitchery Page

A very well designed and organized page, it features articles, designs, magazines, charts and even online lessons. A comprehensive site that will easily get you immersed in the crafts.

Couture's Cross Stitch Place

Here you will find a nice long list of pattern links and information on the art. One of the few with information on computers and cross stitch with a section on converting pictures to patterns. The page design is simple, but the information and tips are great.

Pomegranate Guild Homepage

The Guild's purpose is "to study and provide information on Judaic needle art, to conduct workshops, conferences and exhibits, to create courses of study and to compile written materials and photographic records of the finished needlework, to make contact with people of similar interest in other countries, to provide a showcase for members' works and to have lists of these members available for those seeking to grant commissions and for exhibition."
