Cybertown Request for Parental Approval

Your child has asked to become a member of Cybertown, a virtual online community (the Civilization for the Virtual Age). Because your child is under the age of 13, your consent to the possible future collection, use and disclosure of personal information regarding your child is required.

Cybertown attempts to be a free, clean, safe community on the Internet. It is a great place for children and families to communicate, explore, learn and share in the magic of online 3D. Cybertown is known as the "Civilization for the Virtual Age" - a futuristic, immersive society accessible via the Internet. Cybertown citizens use personalized 3D avatars to represent themselves and own personal 3D homes, hold jobs, form clubs, shop in the virtual mall, dance in the nightclub, play games in the Casino and Arcade, attend live celebrity and author chat events, and more. Citizens are actively involved in the community and with each other, making Cybertown a true community.

As a member of Cybertown your child may occasionally be asked to provide personal information by the operators of the Cybertown website in connection with virtual volunteer employment or if they have entered a contest and won a real life prize. In addition, your child may choose to voluntarily provide personal information to third parties through chat rooms that form part of the Cybertown community. Cybertown does not monitor and is unable to exercise control over the dissemination of personal information provided by your child through such chat rooms.

It sets forth the following information: (i) the name and contact information of all Cybertown operators collecting or maintaining children's personal information through the Cybertown Web site; (ii) the kinds of personal information collected from children through the Cybertown Web site and how the information is collected; (iii) how the operators of the Cybertown Web site use personal information collected from children; and (iv) information pertaining to third parties, if any, to whom such personal information is disclosed. (see: Use of Data and Information). Currently (April 2000) their are no 3rd parties that we share personal membership information with.

Please read the Cybertown privacy statement carefully. Also, please note that under federal law, the operators of the Cybertown Web site may not, and will not, require your child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation.

Immigration Code

An immigration code has been assigned to your child by Cybertown. If you have elected to consent to the collection, use and disclosure, or only to the collection and use, of personal information regarding your child, please provide your child with the immigration code. If you have elected not to consent to the collection, use or disclosure of such personal information, please do NOT provide your child with the immigration code.

Review and Deletion of Personal Information; Revocation Of Consent

You may at any time review the personal information collected from your child, ask to have such information deleted, or revoke your consent and refuse to allow any further collection, use or disclosure of personal information regarding your child, by contacting us by mail or facsimile using the address or facsimile number indicated below. Following the deletion of personal information or the revocation of consent, Cybertown may terminate any service provided to your child, but only if the personal information at issue is reasonably necessary for your child's participation in the activity.

We will send you a new notice and request for consent if there are any material changes in the collection, use or disclosure practices, as set forth in the Cybertown privacy statement, to which you may have previously consented.
