Modern science has finally caught up to the fictional science of STAR TREK. You can now use this exciting Voice Print technology to protect your computer just like the fictional Starfleet crew members of the Starships Enterprise, Endeavor, Defiant, Voyager and the Deep Space Nine Star Base! Voice Lock and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Voice Print authentication security is available for Windows 3.x, Windows 95 and Windows NT.

In an exclusive agreement with Viacom Consumer Products, QVoice Inc. has combined its voice authentication technology with the popular STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE television series. This is the first licensed STAR TREK product developed to teach a computer to accurately identify who you are based on arbitrary speech. This scientific breakthrough in Voice Print Authentication adds real life credibility and believability to STAR TREK. It captures the mystique and mythology that the STAR TREK image is known for and brings it to life. This amazing new technology provides something a lot of STAR TREK fans have yearned for -- real voice print authentication combined with specially drawn STAR TREK images. VOICE PRINT VERIFICATION TECHNOLOGY:

QVoice is bringing the power of Voice Print Authentication Technology to every STAR TREK fan. This program combines the best elements of the TV series with cutting edge Voice Print Authentication technology. It stops program execution by locking the Windows "run" command, program icons and program groups. It disables the Windows "edit" and "exit" functions and limits access to adult material on the Internet and World Wide Web. It also restricts excessive game play. It protects application data on the Windows desktop with state-of-the-art encryption technology. For example, a parent could encrypt sensitive data or exe files so no one else would have access to these forbidden areas. A parent could, therefore, allow kids access to their computer games, word processor and encyclopedia, but nothing else. Or a parent can simply bar access to the computer entirely by requiring a voice match rather than a typed password. Instead of remembering passwords, the authorized user just speaks a few arbitrary words into their computer's microphone. The program then uses the unique vocal characteristics of the human voice to create a voice print.

Like a "finger print," no two voices are identical. If your voice is verified as the authorized user, then you are granted access. If not, you're rejected. When rejected the "red alert" shield is displayed and Star Trek sound effects are played while the intruder hears "Warning! Intruder alert. Unauthorized user - access denied." This can be a lot of fun, but DS9VP also incorporates sophisticated security features, including customizable encryption and decryption of sensitive data that uses the authorized user's own voice as the key to unlock the desktop, programs and encrypted data sets.

Learning how to use the software could not be easier. You merely read the supplied paragraph into your microphone. This teaches the program to recognize the sound of your voice and creates your unique "vocal finger print" which it then stores on the hard drive. You then select program icons, program groups, sensitive data, financial files, directories and sub directories that you want to place off-limits from your friends, kids, neighbor's kids, relatives, schoolmates, coworkers and yes, even your boss. It locks the desktop when the screen saver kicks in or by pressing a hot-key. It stops unauthorized users from running programs, editing the desktop and exiting Windows. It even disables the Windows "run" command preventing unauthorized program installations and automatically re-locks applications when you exit. In essence, the software restricts access to as much or as little of a PC's files and programs as the user desires. The software provides the ease of using a voice security program that requires arbitrary speech as the password in the authorized user's own voice.

HOW VOICE PRINT SECURITY SHIELDS WORK:

The software program provides many colorful STAR TREK security screens accompanied by three sound tracks including the authentic character voices of Captain Sisko, Odo, Quark and the official STAR TREK computer voice as portrayed by actress Majel Barrett.

Each of the STAR TREK Security Shields is a hand-painted graphical image designed specifically to ward off intruders and work in combination with QVoice's Voice Authentication Technology.

When security shields (also called Gatekeepers) are activated, they cover the entire computer monitor forming an impenetrable security shield preventing intruders from accessing the Windows desktop, viewing sensitive material and launching protected applications.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Voice Print security shields include: The Defiant Starship, Starfleet Runabout, Deep Space Nine Star Base, DS9 Operations Center, Quark's Bar, the Ferengi Currency Exchange, ODO's Security Shield, the United Federation of Planets communication emblem and more.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Voice Print's multimedia interface lets you interact with your favorite characters. You can display your favorite Star Trek Security Shields and select the soundtrack files to play. You can even record your own voice warning message and insert your collection of Star Trek WAV files to create cool sound effects. You can use DS9VP's on-the-fly messaging system, which allows parents to remind their children to finish home work before they can call up Doom.
"Peter this is your captain speaking. . . you must finish your homework before access is granted."
In fact, you can even set it up as a family messaging center. DS9VP can deliver your personal message from just a move of the mouse.
"Honey, I am helping your father at the wine tasting contest, be home soon."

WHY IS SECURITY IMPORTANT?

If you went wandering through the neighborhood, college dorms or private residences, trying the doors and going through desk drawers that were open, people would notice. But, in a non-secure environment there is nothing to keep the bored and inquisitive from budget reports, salary information, personnel files, confidential documents, school work and home financial data. As the PC becomes a commodity in the work place and a household appliance used by all family members, security and privacy are becoming major issues. The greatest of these security issues is children's access to pornography and other questionable material. And the danger of pedophiles lurking in kids' chat rooms on the Internet. But there are even more issues to face. . .

Another major issue is access to your family's most private and often irreplaceable documentation. As consumers use computers for more home functions like home finances, e-mail and bringing work home from the office, the potential for real damage is rising. Kids tend to bring friends home to play on the computer, opening up all kinds of potentially embarrassing and even catastrophic scenarios. The loss of tax records, work projects, banking data, letters and other correspondence stored on the computer is only a few clicks away from accidental access. And don't forget that giving your children unrestricted access to your computer is the same as giving all their friends access.

Every computer user wishes for a better way to protect sensitive data. Ultimately, security comes down to your cousin's name, your birthday, or whatever else you choose as a typed password. For all the talk about beefing up system security, the most effective way to breach a user's personal files and applications is to guess his or her password. That's because in the interest of easy recall, many users still resort to familiar terms when coming up with passwords. In fact most passwords can be found on scraps of paper taped to the desk or under the keyboard. But not anymore. STAR TREK DS9 Voice Print Security will protect your privacy. It will keep the kids out of your files and off the Internet to prevent unauthorized viewing, use and theft of vital files with nothing more than the sound of your voice.

HOW DOES VOICE VERIFICATION WORK?

A voice signal contains two types of information, one which represents the underlining text and the other which indicates the talker's identity. The former is essential in machine speech recognition where the object is to convert a spoken word input into a text command as used in the Star Trek Omnipedia. The latter is used in machine speaker recognition to identify or verify the talker. Speaker authentication systems can be operated in one of two modes, namely, identification or verification. Speaker identification involves identifying whether or not the spoken word belongs to a speaker in a group of known speakers. Speaker verification, or authentication, involves verifying whether the spoken utterance belongs to the claimed speaker.

Voice Lock and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Voice Print are state-of-the-art speaker verification systems. This breakthrough in technology extracts voice features which characterize the speaker in terms of his or her vocal tract dimensions, acoustics and excitation. These features are unique to each individual and are used as a voice imprint for verification.

QVoice's voice verification technology extends beyond current commercial systems to enable multi-lingual capability. Speakers may gain access to their machine using a variety of different languages. This unique feature of this system is functional without any trade-off in system performance or efficiency. With as little as 15 to 20 seconds of training, Voice Lock and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Voice Print can correctly verify the claimed speaker with over 99% accuracy with less than 3 seconds of spoken speech!
